Fouta – The traditional tunisian towel

23 Dec

During one of our recent trip in Tunisia, we discovered amazing Foutas. A Fouta is a traditional tunisian towel used for the Hammam. Authentic and handmade in Tunisia, the Fouta is made of 100% natural cotton. It can be used for many purposes from a beach towel, a warp, shawl, or coverup. A unique way to differentiate yourself at the beach. We have included this artisanal and traditional towel in our collection.

The Fouta is now available exclusively online at

Paris Premiere Vision

24 Sep

We are constantly asked how do we find our fabrics. We do travel directly to the factories to meet with the team and visit the infrastructure. But we also do trade shows…and Premiere Vision is a must do! After an early wake up at 4.45 am to catch the plane to Paris Orly, we took the RER to get to Villepente. An hour ride at 7 am stock between body odors, hair, handbags, underarms…..quiet lovely!

It was worth the morning pain to be able to meet with different suppliers from around the world and select fabrics for the next collection. A trade show that spread over six buildings….a real candy store for any fashion designer.

NAILA collection 2012 shooting

We shoot our lookbook a few months ago with a great team in New York. Here is a quick peek of the collection and backstage.

Travel diaries

10 Sep

Swimwear definitely makes us travel around the world, most importantly to discover new suppliers, check on production and quality. Recently, we got to discover another country and on my way back I bought Harper’s Bazaar to pass the time on the plane. After opening the first page, I quickly realized my Harper’s Bazaar was dating from February 2011…The one I freshly just bought 5 min ago on September 2011…..Weird! However, for our stop in Vienna we got to hang out at the Sacher hotel..for a piece for the famous Sacher tart! Absolutely Delicious! But definitely not recommended for any swimwear diet!

Miami Swim week Diary

3 Aug

Miami Swim Week is such a busy time for anyone in the swimwear industry. We had to wake up every day at 6am for a quick swim in the Ocean in order to enjoy some early beach time before each workday. Early beautiful morning light and not one soul on the beach…What an amazing way to start the day!

Meeting with fabric’s suppliers, retailers and buyers all day long to introduce our line. We were glad to see previous buyers reordering from us. We also got great editors pulling out from our collection for their editorials. Even after a busy day, the evenings were spending sipping cocktails at Soho house, Casa Tua or the new Dream hotel with old friends.

Casa Tua literally became our daily canteen to escape from the bad food of the Convention center and sometime the non-existent lunch we forget to have.

Our trip end up with a beautiful shooting by the beach with our model before going back to the terrible warm and sticky weather of New York.

Dream hotel Miami opening

19 Jul

Love to meet old friends in different part of the world. While in Miami, we got invited to the Dream hotel opening party on Saturday. It was one of the top event of the Swim season in Miami! After doing the opening in NY, I couldn’t resist to compare with the Miami opening. A great evening on the rooftop of one of the new hot spot in Miami. Dj Andrew Andrew from New York spinning, fire show in the pool and Nicky Hilton having a slice of pizza. A great evening!
